What you see from the door.
A mannequin in the Church Street Coat. Rails on both sides: evening cloth to the left as you enter, the midi and the coat's companions to the right. A marble table in the middle for bags and pearls. The fitting room at the back, with a proper mirror and a chair. A quiet worktable beyond that for a hem.
Dresses hang on open rails, not behind glass. Bags sit where you can pick them up. Daylight is the honest light. Come then if you can. The silk reads truer, and the cream walls were painted for it.
What the room is for.
Trying, deciding, leaving with one thing you will wear. It is not for browsing forty rails. If you want the fitting room held, that is a private hour. If you want to look, you do not need an appointment. If you want a hem, ask while you are here.
