The women's fashion room is the evening rail and the coat beside it. There is an ivory silk column for the invitation that asks for a gown, a black column for the dinner that asks for black, a champagne satin midi for the hours that are neither fully day nor fully night, and a wool coat cut long enough to make Blackburn weather irrelevant.

They were chosen together. The lining of the coat is the colour of the midi. The black dress is matte until you turn. The ivory is warm, not optical. None of them are covered in a logo, and none of them need a second piece from a different shop to look finished, though the pearls and the noir bag were bought to sit beside them.

Every dress below opens onto its own page: cloth, length, where it hangs in the room, and what it is bad at. If you want to be fitted rather than to read, the private styling hour is a separate door.

UK sizes run true on the ivory column and the midi, closer on the black column, and generous on the coat because it is meant to close over a dress. Bring the shoes you will wear. The fitting room is at the back of Higher Church Street, with a chair for whoever came with you.
