A champagne satin midi with a slip of a strap. It works under a coat at lunch and on its own once the lights drop.
Adding to the bag keeps you here. When you are ready, open your bag, write your details, and pay by cash or UPI.
This is the dress we expect to see most often leaving the shop in a garment bag and coming back only in photographs. The satin is a warm champagne, closer to barley than to gold, so it does not shout against skin or against the cream walls of the boutique. The skirt ends at the mid-calf, which is the length that still feels dressed when you are walking along Higher Church Street.
The straps are narrow and adjustable. There is a built-in short lining so the satin never clings where you do not want it to, and a small slit at the back hem for a normal stride. It is not an evening gown and it is not a day dress. It is the piece between them, which is what most real calendars need.
If you are choosing between this and the ivory column, wear the midi when you will be seated for a long time or moving between rooms. Wear the column when the evening is the point.
