Bags and pearls live in the middle of the room, not behind glass.
This page is about the table in the centre of 12 Higher Church Street: where handbags sit, where pearls rest, and why you are allowed to touch both.
The table is the second rail.
Dresses hang. Bags stand. If you cannot pick a bag up, it is not a handbag, it is a prop. The Noir Top-Handle stands on four small feet in the middle of the table. The Limestone Chain Tote lives on the shelf to the right of the fitting room. The Cognac Chain Shoulder Bag sits on the glass shelf by the pearls. The MAYZ card is inside each of them. There is no metal logo on the outside.
The pearl tray is in front of the black bag on purpose. Stand there if you want to see how the strand reads against the ivory gown. The hoops are in the front left of the same tray, because they are the piece most likely to leave with something else.
What a bag is allowed to claim.
Capacity is the only thing a bag can lie about. That is why each bag page prints its width, height and depth, and why none of them pretend to hold a laptop if they do not. If you need a work tote, this is not that shop. If you need an evening that still has a place for a phone, a card and a lipstick, it is.
