Trying on

An hour in the room is not a performance. It is a decision.

This page is the try-on itself: shoes, order, what to bring, what the mirror is for. Private styling is a held hour. This is the ordinary visit.

Bring the shoes you will actually wear.

A hem that works barefoot on the fitting-room carpet often fails in a heel. The ivory column and the champagne midi are both kinder if you judge the length in the shoe of the evening. If you forget them, say so. We would rather note a hem later than sell you a length that only works today.

The order that tells you the most.

Start with the invitation you have. Try the coat over the first dress, then the same coat over the second. That single comparison is why the rail is short. Bags come after cloth. Pearls come last, because they finish a neckline that is already decided. The person who came with you has a chair. Use it.

What the mirror is for.

Not for photographing a grid. For walking three steps, sitting, and raising an arm as if you were reaching for a glass. If a dress cannot do those three things, it does not leave. If it can, we will steam it, note a hem, or put it in a garment bag the same day.
